EUSA 2017: Russian universities win gold medal in both men's and women's chess competition

Russian university chess players turned out to be very successful at the European Universities Chess Championship held in Fuengirola, Spain in 2017.

 

The women’s team competition saw the Ural State Mining University (RUS) gaining the first position and achieving the gold medal. In the men’s team competition, after an engaging match-up against the University of Belgrade (SRB), the Ural State Mining University (RUS) won the gold medal in the men’s category.

 

However, the University of Belgrade (SRB) managed take gold in the men’s Blitz category in which Marko Nenezic achieved the first place. In the women’s Blitz competition the Ural State Mining University (RUS) gained the third gold, with Daria Voit winning the competition.

 

Rivals will be desperate to get revenge on Russian university chess players at the European Universities Chess Championship 2019 in Budapest.
