Italians win EUSA bridge championship in 2017

The University of Padova (ITA) won the European Universities Chess Championship held in Fuengirola, Spain in 2017.

 

The European Universities Bridge Championship 2017 was held in Fuengirola, Spain, along with the European Universities Chess Championship. A total of more than 110 participants from 25 universities, representing 15 different countries were present in the event.

 

The championships were organised in  ajoint venture by the International University of Andalucia and the Spanish University Sport Committee, in collaboration with several local partners in Fuengirola and with the support of two governing bodies, the European Bridge League (EBL) and the European Chess Union (ECU). 

 

The gold in the Bridge Team Tournament was conquered by the University of Padova (ITA) which won a tight battle against the Charles University (CZE) taking the silver medal. The Technical University of Munich (GER) led most rounds but had a tough final day, ending up in the third place, winning the bronze medal.
