Transportation

The transportation is well organized in Budapest, the host city of EUSA Chess and Bridge Championship 2019. There are easy accesses to the international, national and public transports.

 

Budapest is served by Budapest Ferenc Liszt International Airport (BUD) (named after Franz Liszt, the notable Hungarian composer), one of the busiest airports in Central and Eastern Europe, located 16 kilometres of the centre of Budapest. In addition, the four main train stations are well located and easily accessible from anywhere in Budapest: Keleti railway station, Nyugati railway station, Kelenföld station and Déli railway station. The latter is the closest to the venue and accommodation.

Budapest has two important bus stations for national and internarnational transport:

  • Népliget – main bus station of Budapest
  • Kelenföld – closest bus station to the venue and accommodation

For the participants free transport will be provided from the airport, bus or train station to the accommodation. Please give all details regarding your travel to the Organizing Committee, so we can arrange your shuttle on the day of arrival and departure.

 

If you are planning on arriving by car, please let us know in advance, so we can provide you with parking information.

 

The public transport is well organized in Budapest. During the championship all contestants will receive a 7 day public transportation pass, which they can use within the administrative boundaries of Budapest, on buses, trolleybuses, trams, subways and on weekday’s even boats.

 

The accomodation for the VIPs, EUSA representatives and referees, the Novotel Budapest City hotel is 5 minutes walk from the competition venue, University of Physical Education.

 

From the accommodation for the athletes, officials and volunteers, IBS Garden Hotel to the competition venue the tram 61 can be taken from Kelemen László utca to Csörsz utca (11 stops), this will take about 20 minutes.
